Songstress Larrita Adderly will perform at the Concerts in the Park tomorrow afternoon.

Songbird Sia Spence will sing at Concerts in the Park tomorrow afternoon.

Concerts in the Park takes on a gospel theme tomorrow, officially bringing the Cup Match holiday to a resounding close.

'Lift Your Voices' takes place in Victoria Park it's being billed as a calmer option to the annual Non-Mariners Race, organised for the same day.

"We figured the gospel crowd would not be up at Non-Mariners," said the event's project manager Danilee Trott.

"We have an information booth that will give information on some of the different religions in Bermuda and we've highlighted a few gospel artists and [prepared] a feature on some of the artists that are actually performing.

"Power Girl [radio host Patrina O'Connor-Paynter] is our mistress of ceremonies and she does an excellent job every month, she gets the crowd involved, participating and dancing."

Every month the Corporation of Hamilton works with a different group on the Concerts in the Park series. This month it is working with Spanish Town.

Miguel Walker of Spanish Town said an array of talent is due to perform.

"We have Gina Spence Productions in Christ and we all know that she is dedicated to what she does," he said.

"Most of the time it is done with a lot of passion and she has a great feel for the arts. Big Snipes, DJ Mission and Halal Dance Ministry are the performing arts ministries in Bermuda. It is nice that we are having a gospel on, but it is not often that you get to see them and when you think about it there is no other event other than church events that highlight that entertainment.

"The nice thing about the partnership that we have with the Corporation is that we are starting to bring back what we remember as little children and seeing live music with Bermuda's talent."

The list of performers includes Brother Furquan, Samantha Smith, Sia Spence, Tracy Attwood, Tricray Astwood and Larrita Adderley.

"We have quite a few more acts as well, but the Seventh-day Adventist Inspirational Choir is going to be quite a sight to see, because it is a lot of them and when they open up, they don't really need mics or equipment.

"It is going to be well worth coming out even if you are not religious."

The Indigo Sunset Band is also scheduled to perform, Ms Trott said.

"It is a group of six gentlemen and we are bringing in [the] six. They actually travel to Bermuda quite regularly and they work in our high school system with youngsters that are gifted musically.

"And they have put together three or four students that are exceptional and will be performing with their band."

All in all the event will touch on all different genres of gospel from reggae to hip hop and everything in between.

"It's a great combination and it's all positive, so it's a great time to come out and bring your family," Ms Trott concluded.

There will also be entertainment for children and food stalls. Events begin at 3 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. Admission is free.
