Big Brothers Big Sisters granted $1,000

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda were given a $1000 grant from the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA) for their ongoing commitment to youths in the community.

The cheque was presented November 20 by Bermuda CableVision general manager Terry Roberson, to Dina-Mae Richardson, office coordinator of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Ms Richardson said: "Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda is very grateful for again being nominated by Bermuda CableVision for the CCTA's donation.

"We are fortunate to have received the CCTA gift twice in the past.

"While BBBS is part of an international organisation, we are financed independently and rely on local individuals and corporations like the CCTA for their support. The funds we receive benefit youths in our programme who may not otherwise have good role models from whom to learn self-esteem and respect for others."

Previous CCTA grant recipients have been the Women's Resource Centre and Hope Homes. The programme usually awards ten grants a year.
